You will find our adventures physically active and culturally rewarding. Whether explore the ruins of Mycenae or climb to the top of Mt Olympus, you'll experience firsthand the cultures and environments of the region you are visiting. And after a long day of touring, we ensure you a comfortable night's rest in deluxe accommodations from regional inns to 5 star resorts.

In keeping with our founders' adventurous spirit, Culture Expeditions is constantly seeking innovative new trips throughout Greece and the Aegean. You will always find an array of new trips to exotic locales in our trip list in addition to the classic tours for which we are renowned. So whatever your level of adventure, there is a Culture Expeditions tour just right for you.

How many participants?

You're probably wondering about the people with whom you'll share your tour. Chances are, they're a lot like you. Our guests come from all walks of life and are spirited travelers who share a passion for our wonderful world. They range in age from their late 20s to mid-80s, reminding us all that you can never be too young or too old to have fun!

Our groups are intentionally kept small—usually less than 15 people—to allow you a more intimate experience with the people and wildlife you encounter on your tour. With such a small number of people, we can take advantage of many unexpected invitations and opportunities that would be impossible with larger groups.

Is it safe?

Greece is one of the safest countries in Europe with low crime records.

As a European country, it has good infrastructure and good medical services. Concerning outdoors adventures, safety record is unparalleled (good to know if you're stepping into a river raft for the first time or planning to trek in the Pindos range). The guides are fully trained, our equipment is state-of-the-art, and we continually monitor conditions with our worldwide team of outfitters to make certain every trip is run safely and with the highest standards of quality.

How about trekking?

One of the best ways to truly get to know a region is in the slowest and most intimate manner—on foot. On foot you are able to get into some of the most remote and scenic corners of Greece – and get away from civilization and connect with nature. This is what makes trekking such a wonderful way of traveling. Our trekking adventures involve traveling and camping in remote areas and often at high altitude. They take you through mountain villages where you will experience the customs and the culture of the regions. And almost all of our treks start—and end—in larger cities, where you will have time to visit museums, monuments, and other places of cultural and historical interest. We provide most of the gear for our trekking trips (tents, commissary gear, etc.). A detailed list of recommended personal clothing and equipment will be sent to you after you sign up.

Should I trek?

For our trekking trips, we expect all participants to be strong, experienced hikers in excellent physical condition. Trekking is for people who enjoy walking for several days in a row – even if it’s up and down steep hills! On some of our treks, you may spend considerable time at altitudes above 7,000 feet, which can make the hiking extra strenuous.

What about food and water?

Food is always of very good quality. If you have specific needs (vegan etc), you have to notify it in advance. Please have in mind that in remote areas and especially during trekking adventures food of certain kind (e.g. kosher) is hard to obtain. Water in Greece is generally safe. Bottled water is widely available, but most guests drink the tap water easily without any problems.

What about insurance?

According to the E.U. law all travelers must be covered by insurance which is always included in the price of any of Culture Expeditions tours. If you have any questions, please contact us for more details..
