Nomads crafting amazing carpets and clergy people wearing the typical turbans are some of the daily and most common characteristics of Iran. This is one of the most mysterious countries on the planet, the place where A Thousand and One Nights come alive, with magnificent monuments, vast deserts and centuries-old cities still untouched by the lifestyle of the West. A rich historical past, friendly people and a huge collection of fascinating monuments are among the advantages of a visit to this part of the world. A country related to the great Persian Empire and Alexander the Great’s route towards the East. Nowadays, the level of services in the country has risen significantly and all the major cities have excellent hotels. Nevertheless, we are in the Middle East, and besides the modernization, we have to abide to certain inviolable rules such as the clothes issue. We’ll visit the capital, Tehran, with the archaeological museum and the collection of jewels of the royal family. We’ll also visit mythical Tabriz and the Throne of Solomon. We continue to Hamadan and Esfahan which is included in the World Cultural Heritage Catalogue of UNESCO. The real interest of many travelers in Iran, lies in the archeological site of Persepolis, and not without a reason! Huge palaces, gates and tombs that date back to the 6th century B.C. offer a breathtaking sight. The trip to Persia is completed by visits in two more centers of Persian Culture: Shiraz, the “City of Poets” with its gardens and mausoleums and Yazd with its magnificent architecture.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN TEHRAN
Meet and assist at Tehran international Airport and transfer to our hotel. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 2: TEHRAN
After breakfast we will start our Tehran sightseeing. Visit of the Archeological museum, which is full of ancient treasures, the Glass and Ceramics museum and the impressive Jewelry museum, which exhibits precious and famous items, all from the last Shah’s collection. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 3: TEHRAN & TABRIZ
Morning transfer to the airport and flight to mythical Tabriz, a city of rich history and profound Christian past. In our guided city tour, we will visit the 14th century citadel and the Blue Mosque. Afternoon visit of the unique troglodyte village of Kandovan. According to scientific researchers, this was probably the Biblical Garden of Eden. Return to our hotel, overnight. DAY 4: TABRIZ
Morning visit of the marvelous Black Church, in the heart of Persian Azerbaijan. This is one of the most important monuments of Iran. Return to Tabriz late in the evening. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 5: TABRIZ & TAKAB
Today we will visit Persian Kurdistan, one of the least known areas of Iran. After driving through forgotten villages, we will end up in Takab. This small town, located on the border of Azerbaijan and Kurdistan Iranian provinces, is the starting point of all major archaeological expeditions. Overnight in 2* hotel.
DAY 6: TAKAB, THRONE OF SOLOMON & HAMMADAN
Morning excursion to the famous Throne of Solomon, a complex of Zoroastrian temples, towers and castles, built around an isolated lake. We shall continue our tour with Hammadan and the famous Bou-Ali Mausoleum. En route, visit Nusheyan castle. Overnight in 4* hotel.
DAY 7: HAMMADAN & ESFAHAN
Today we will complete our sightseeing in Hammadan. Soon after, we will depart to Esfahan, the capital of the province and definitely one of the most beautiful cities of the Islamic world. Rest of the time free, to stroll around the streets of this wonderful city. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 8: ESFAHAN
Esfahan morning tour. Visit of the famous Nagsh-e-Jahan square in the centre of the city. All major monuments are found around this place, including the impressive Masjed-e-Emam mosque, which we shall visit next. Enjoy the rest of your day exploring the local bazaar. Look out for marvelous art work from all over the Middle East. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 9: ESFAHAN
Today we will visit the beautifully decorated Chehel Sotun, meaning “40 Columns’ Palace” and the impressive jewel collection, along with unique weapons and priceless ancient hand-written Qurans. We will wander around the labyrinth-like hallways of the six-storey Ali-Ghapu Palace and enjoy the breath taking view from the Palace’s highest balcony. The square and the city both look gorgeous. Also visit Jame Mosque, the Museum of the Islamic architecture, with 11th century exhibits. The beautiful sites of the Medieval bridges over Zayande Rud River are still used by the caravans when transporting goods. Return to our hotel. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 10: ESFAHAN & YAZD
Departure to Yazd, the ancient centre of Zoroastrism, driving through the Iranian plateau steppes and villages where lifestyle hasn’t changed for centuries. Arrival in Yazd and rest of the time free at leisure. Overnight in 4* hotel.
DAY 11: YAZD, PASARGADAE & SHIRAZ
Visit of the Ateshkande Zoroastrian temple, the place of eternal flame and the so called “prison of Alexander the Great”. After a short tour, we head to Shiraz, a cultural center and one of the most beautiful cities of Persia. On our way there we will visit Pasargadae, ancient capital of Cyrus. The most interesting monument is Cyrus’ tomb. Arrival in Shiraz in the evening. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 12: SHIRAZ & PERSEPOLIS
Morning excursion to Persepolis, one of the most interesting archaeological sites in the Middle East. We will see Xerxes’ gate and Palace, Darius’ and Artaxerxes’ Palaces and the “100 columns palace”. We will also visit the archeological site of Naqsh-e-Rostam with the royal tombs of the Persian kings. Later we will visit the impressively decorated mausoleum Shah Cheragh. Return to Shiraz. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 13: SHIRAZ
After breakfast we will visit Saadi’s tomb. Saadi was a great Persian poet of the 13th century. We’ll also visit Hafiz’s tomb, who was a lyric and mystic poet who lived in the time of Mongolian rulers. Free time for a visit in the Vakil bazaar. Rest of the day free at leisure for strolling in the city’s bazaars. Overnight in 5* hotel.
DAY 14: DEPARTURE
Early in the morning transfer to the airport for our flight back home.
